The Best Guide to the Longleaf Trace

The Layout of the Trail

One of the main reasons so many people come to stay with us is how close we are to the Longleaf Trace, the best biking and walking trail in all of Mississippi. With over 44 miles of paved trail to explore from Hattiesburg to Prentiss, the Longleaf Trace offers the perfect outdoor experience for guests who want to breathe in nature or explore the city of Hattiesburg.

To make your visit to the Lon
gleaf Trace as simple as possible, we’d like to offer this guide so you know what the best ways to experience this trail are. Let’s go through it!

Longleaf Piney Resort rests on Mile 10 of the trail. You can either ride east to downtown Hattiesburg or west for a rural ride through the Mississippi countryside. If you want to ride to the downtown area, it’s about a 20-mile round trip ride, which makes for an easy, fun daytime activity.

How wide is the trail?

The trail is around 10 feet wide. Cyclists, joggers, and walkers all need to share the space, so make sure you practice proper trail etiquette so nobody gets hurt.

Are dogs allowed on the trail?

So long as your dog is well-mannered and has a leash, the pup should be able to walk or run alongside you on Longleaf Trace. Make sure you bring proper cleaning gear for your dog just in case.

Complementary pedal bikes available at the Longleaf Trace

Are you not an avid cyclist at home? No need to worry! Longleaf Piney Resort provides complimentary pedal bikes for all our guests. Our bikes are suitable for all individuals, including larger families who can enjoy a delightful ride together.
